Happy Wednesday, Writers! Today, I thought we could work on the fundamentals. As I’m sure most of you know by now, your first fifty pages are the most important of your book. It’s what agents, editors, and readers see first, and it’s often when they decide whether they like what they’re reading enough to keep going.

With that in mind, lets break down the essential scenes you need in the first 50 pages of your book.

First things first, I like to divide the initial 50 pages into ten scenes. While you don't have to stick strictly to ten, it's a good starting point to ensure your story has a solid structure from the beginning.
